Head of Audiology
Audiology Department under the Headship of Dr. Bashir Muhammad is one of the key departments in the clinical services area of the Centre saddled with the responsibility of offering audiological and speech therapy services like evaluation for hearing and hearing disorders, rehabilitation of hearing impaired, evaluation for speech disorders and speech therapy among others. The department has two main units, namely; Audiometry and Speech Therapy Units

Audiometry Unit

- Impedance Audiometry Including Tympanometry and Reflexometry
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
- Free-Field Audiometry (FFA)
- Play Audiometry
- Hearing Aid Trial and Evaluation
- Hearing Aid Programming, Fitting and Counseling
- Otoacoustic Emission (OAE)
- Industrial Hearing Conservation
- Aural Impression Taking Etc.
Speech Therapy Unit

- Auditory: Verbal Therapy for Post Cochlear Implant Patients

Service delivery: There is significant improvement of service delivery in the department. This is evident by reduced patient waiting time.
There is also consistent supply of quality and affordable hearing aids for clients in need.
Equipment: The following Equipment/items were supplied for smooth service delivery

- Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission (DPOAE) Machine
- Diagnostic KUDUwave Boothless Audiometer
- HP laptop computer dedicated to the KUDUwave boothless audiometer
- Inverter system dedicated to the ABR test room for steady uninterrupted power supply during tests
- Upgrading of speech therapy unit with more materials, toys and devices for more efficient therapy
- Hi- Pro programming devices (Both cabled and wireless) and their accessories donated by Starkey hearing devices
- Furnishing with new tables and chairs following relocation of the department from the old site to the ground floor of the new research block
- Furnishing the Audiology seminar room with new padded chairs and projector with its accessories
